Thread-ing

Our teacher for literary theory says that everything in the world is a text. Which means that you are a text, and so am I. Even beans are texts. He also says that all texts are interconnected, and so they're all textile in nature, which makes the entire universe a giant piece of cloth. This is pretty stupid, and does not make any sense to me, but this is probably because of subjectivity. My subjectivity is not at the same level as his. He might be fond of the idea of being a thread in the cloth of the cosmos, a thread which goes on for 6 feet and then merges with the thread of a cockroach, but I find it pretty creepy.

  1. i just cannot understand this... but since a man is generally around 6ft i guess you were talking about the inter-weaving of a man and a cockroach right? okay.. now that's gross... but, if you were not talking about a man... what else is 6ft man? a bill board? no... a plasma tv?... or a really tall promise? maybe... in india with so many politicians, i think its possible...

  3. Nitish..although your ideas are high and mighty, I'm sad to say that the 6 feet refers to the man being being discussed here, i.e. my lit theory teacher.
Nandhini: Thanks a lot for the positive feedback :)

  4. Next time, when PK is talking, maybe you should listen to him, instead of writing your blog! It then helps to contextualize. Idiot!
We're all threads in a piece of cloth, it seems!
