Homecoming?

Homecoming is the restlessness that begins a month in advance. It is the excitement to engage in an activity as mundane as packing. It is relishing a two hour ride to the airport, just because that means the moment of reunion is imminent.
Homecoming is sitting by the window on a plane, looking down at a familiar landscape gradually drawing closer, choking on tears held back for months. It is an acute case of conveyor belt envy, which is an urge to rip apart every piece of luggage that comes down the conveyor belt before mine.
Homecoming is finally being able to let go and weep freely, and feeling the consolidated pain of months of separation melt away.
     Homecoming is returning to family.
