I think I must have missed out on a very crucial biology lesson, because I can never figure out why people say "Do that if you have the guts". I mean, obviously I have guts. If I didn't, my bodily functions would be in serious trouble, and I'd probably be lying somewhere in an ICU. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think guts = intestines. Intestines are the long convoluted pipes in a person's body that give shit its shape, and sometimes are home to tapeworms and roundworms and maybe even earthworms. But how are they, in any way, even remotely related to courage or grit? I think this might be what is popularly called a metaphor. Or is it?
All I can say is that "if you have adrenal glands" would be much more appropriate (adrands, for short), because they produce adrenaline, which would definitely define adventurousness better than those worm-infested pipes.
